Approach
Limit-equilibrium analysis confirmed factor of safety < 1.1 under saturation. Recommended soil-nail + shotcrete system with 220 nails at 5-ft centers and positive drainage behind the face.
Alameda County, CA
Challenge
12-mile transit corridor across 6 geologic units with compressed schedule. Agency needed stamped boring logs in 3 weeks for 30% design submission.
Approach
Mobilized two drill rigs simultaneously. Delivered 48 borings, continuous SPT at 5-ft intervals, and a geologic cross-section every 800 ft — ahead of schedule.

Challenge
12-story mixed-use tower on made land at the former waterfront. Bay mud to 60 ft, liquefiable sand below, stringent settlement limits from neighboring historic structure.
Approach
Recommended large-diameter drilled shafts tipped into Franciscan bedrock at 90 ft. Lateral analysis confirmed adequate stiffness to protect adjacent foundations.
